CineMeets Africa is the bold vision of two pioneering creatives — Okedore Oluwafemi Victor, a distinguished Film Director from Lagos, Nigeria, and Nazeera Hartley, an award-winning Producer from Cape Town, South Africa. Together, they co-founded CineMeets Africa with a clear mission: to redefine the African film industry and position it as a global force.
This platform was not born from aspiration alone — it was forged out of necessity. CineMeets Africa exists to address the real, persistent challenges that have long limited African filmmakers. We are not just about teaching the art of film; we are about shifting the business and future of African cinema.
Our Purpose Is Clear:
- To unlock access to film funding
- To drive sustainable distribution networks
- Film collaborations among African Filmmakers, and globally
- To build meaningful collaboration across African borders and beyond
- To elevate African productions to meet global industry standards
- To enable credible, cross-border film business transactions
This is not training for training’s sake. It is transformation, by design.
The Beginning of a Continental Movement
CineMeets Africa officially launched in January 2025. Just one month later, on February 21, 2025, we hosted our inaugural event, "MasterChat with Nazeera Hartley" — a virtual gathering that drew over 170 participants from across Namibia, Zambia, Kenya, South Sudan, Ghana, Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, and as far afield as Australia and the United States.
The event opened with powerful remarks from our founder Okedore Oluwafemi, and was co-hosted by the dynamic talents Nachoka from Zambia and Eline from Namibia — demonstrating our commitment to regional representation and continental unity from the very start.
What’s Next: The CineMeets Africa Convention
From June 10 to 15, 2025, Cape Town, South Africa will play host to the first-ever CineMeets Africa International Convention — a landmark gathering that will bring together Africa’s top filmmakers, producers, distributors, investors, and creative entrepreneurs.
This six-day experience will include:
- High-impact networking sessions
- Masterclasses with leading African and global experts
- Creating an international database for Filmmakers for the purpose of creating jobs
- Workshops on co-production, finance, and market access
- Immersive film location tours that celebrate the beauty and storytelling potential of the continent
- A glamorous closing gala, uniting cinema with celebration
This is not just an event — it is a statement:
Africa is no longer on the sidelines of the global film industry. We are at the center of it.
